We are recruiting to fill the position:
Specialist, Market Surveillance
Duty Station: Head Office-Addis Ababa
Reporting to: Manager, Market Surveillance
Job Purpose
Monitor the nature and trading of all aspects of commodities in the Exchange, gather information on market behaviors as well as trade, and analyze trade reports for each commodity to monitor market activities to ensure the integrity of the market. Alert on market conditions that could threaten the market’s stability and recommends corrective measures on market or trade issues that affect price discovery.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Reviews and analyzes trade reports for each commodity daily to monitor market activities.
• Monitors daily the nature and trading of all aspects of commodities in the Exchange.
• Conducts real time supervision of trader’s behavior on the trading floor as required.
• Investigates tips and rumors related to warehouse or trading, and alerts the market surveillance manager.
• Monitors, and identifies abnormal prices against the daily price range limits of the commodity.
•Alerts the market surveillance manager on market condition that could threaten the market’s stability.
•Researches and analyzes international market reports for each commodity weekly, compares trends to local market and discusses findings with market surveillance manager.
•Undertakes warehouse surveillance.
•Recommends corrective measures on market or trade issues that affect price discovery.
•Prepares monthly reports on market surveillance findings, trends and analysis.
•Performs other surveillance related tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
•BA/MA in Management, Marketing, Business, Economics, Finance or related field.
•BA & 4 years of experience OR MA & 2 years of experience in economics, markets, surveillance or related area.
•Knowledge on commercial and business laws.
•Good communication and interpersonal skills.
