Rorank Business S.C. is a joint venture with a UK based company called Castlford Holding Investment Groups. We manufacture and distribute our flagship brands, Super Eagle and Crystal are renowned for their great taste and quality. Our new leading edge manufacturing and bottling facility is located in Cha Cha – Debre Birhan (ደብረ ብርሃን).
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the complete distilleries, blending liqueurs, RTD, R&D, QC, bottling and packaging function. The job incumbent ensures the quality of all distilled spirits are on standard and approves blended spirits, RTD and liqueurs to be bottled. The Manager ensures all packaging lines are used optimally according to the bottling plan.

PRODUCTION OUTPUT
- All Rorank products are correctly packed and bottled according to set standards
- Quality spirits, liqueurs and RTD products produced and blended
- Sanitizer and Disinfectant production
- Research and Development of products according to market demand
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA & TASKS
DISTILLATION AND BLENDING
- Maintain professional relationship with suppliers
- Approve liquor and other spirits for bottling and sales purposes.
- Analyse and taste samples for distillation
- Manage distilling and approval documentation
- Ensure received stock (spirits) are managed
- Monitor spirits quality during distillery process
- Continual visits to distillery in order to monitor set points, distillery process and quality of products
- Offer guidance to relevant employees when necessary
- Identify quality deviations and recommend appropriate adjustments
- Check weekly distillery recons and make recommendations where necessary
- Keep record of monthly wastage
- Conduct tastings for approval purposes before bottling
- Present spirit tastings
- Serve on spirit tasting panels
- Manage the Research and Development department
- Manage Effluent Plants
PACKAGING
- Oversee the comprehensive bottling and packaging process
- Oversee the overall dry stock (packaging) availability
- Determine bottling plan in relation to sales forecast
- Source quality raw material
- Conduct supplier assessment
- Conduct packaging planning according to the bottling plan
- Determine line packaging process
- Continually liaise with Production Manager
- Identify deviations and or problems and make adjustments when necessary
- Draft and adjust weekly production report
- Make recommendations in committee meetings (such as technical, quality control and external bottling)
- Identify machinery needs in the operation and conduct research analysis
- Negotiate purchases when necessary
- Reduce package waste
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
- Execution of Process/Technical Aspects
- Improvement Opportunities & Compliance
- Execution of Intrinsic Aspects
- Production Material Management
FINANCIAL AND GENERAL MANAGEMENT
- Maintain operations budget
- Proactive management of budge
- Approval / Reject requisitions
- Overall management of variances in relevant business structures ( spirit, blending)
- Update spirits tank information
- Conduct necessary audit and provide information to external auditor when necessary
- Receive and resolve customer complaints relating to labels, taste etc. of products
- Maintain and update spirits BSC and provide information to Executive: Operations
- Maintain packaging BSC
- Recon financial information to budget and provide explanations for actions
- Development of comprehensive department budget
- Packaging forecasting
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
- Regular routine communication via management structure and communication channels
- Create and ensure a positive organisational culture climate
- Conduct regular one-on-one sessions with employees
- Comply with KWV’s ethical and anti-corruption policies
- Motivate, develop and coach employees
- Train personnel in distillation and spirit blending
- General HR function to employees (approval of leave etc.)
SELF-MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
- Active inquiry (research) with regards to the company’s strategic priorities
- Expansion of knowledge and skills as required by the position.
- Read and self-study programme.
- Attend training programmes and courses
Job Requirements
EXPERIENCES
- Solid understanding of and minimum 10 years’ experience in distillery and blending
- Basic financial understanding
- Excellent understanding of the packaging principles and practices
SKILL
- Excellent interpersonal and management skills
- Excellent communication skills (English & Afrikaans)
- Analyze and interpret financial information
- Good planning & organizing/coordination skills
- Strategic thinking
- Good quality of leadership
QUALIFICATION
- MSc/BSc obtained from reputed University in Engineering (Industrial Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Chemical or Process engineering) & MBA is advantageous or any similar and same level qualification.
- 15+ Years’ Experience preferable in manufacturing industry or similar role
