Job Description
Ø Performs laboratory tests and/or experiments which may include various assays, specialized techniques such as electrophoresis and basic tissue culture, following established procedures or protocols;
Ø Operates requisite laboratory equipment and instruments; records accurate data; maintains and makes minor adjustments to equipment;
Ø Uses universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from bio-hazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens;
Ø Complies with bio-hazard/radiation safety standards through proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical and biological agents and/or radiation sources in the workplace;
Ø Prepares sterile media such as agar in plates, jars, or test tubes for use in growing bacterial cultures;
Ø Prepares solutions, reagents, and stains following standard laboratory formulas and procedures;
Ø Uses sterile techniques to avoid contaminating lab experiments;
Ø Prepares, cleans, sterilizes, and maintains laboratory equipment, glassware, and instruments used in research experiments;
Ø Performs such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned;
Job Requirements
Essential Qualities and skills
· Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills,;
· Interest and demonstrate potential to research and documentation of project/program progress and best practices;
· Advice on appropriate intervention, ability to design models and implement program review and evaluation;
· Excellent report writing and communication skills.
· Other Computer Proficiency in MS word, EXCEL, Access,
Qualification and Experience
A. Education : BSc/C.Dip Lab. Technician and relative studies
B. Work Experience : 3/5 years extensive experiences in same or similar position in the NGO sector or donor funded project
NB. Speaking of Somali Language is mandatory
