The provision of regular/consistent language training services in Chinese for the purpose of promoting multilingualism in the UN

Expected duration

• 4th term 11 weeks from 28 September to 11 December 2020.

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant will Teach Chinese as a foreign language and deliver communication skills courses to adults; Plan and prepare schemes of work at the beginning of the term, as well as weekly and daily lesson plans; Assist the Coordinator to assess and classify new students according to levels through oral and written placement tests; Assess course participants’ performance and report on their progress at the end of each term and prepare end of term reports; Evaluate training materials at the end of each term; Prepare and assist in refining, up-dating and completing pedagogical materials; Harmonize the various procedures and methodologies in conducting Language and Communication skills programmes; Help improve the efficiency of the Language Training Programme through active participation and contribution as a Language Teacher to the overall conduct and delivery of the programme; Take and keep the course participats’ attendance registers; and use the Internet and other electronic media to offer up-to-date and high quality instructional and learning materials to participants to participants.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: A first degree/BA or equivalent in Chinese Language; a relevant masters degree will be an advantage.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of teaching English as a foreign language in a multicultural environment

Language: Excellent mastery of the Chinese language. Knowledge of English will be advantageous.
